About the Association

A local home for beekeepers

The Madera Beekeepers Association has been bringing local beekeepers together since 2022. We're the neighbors who get a little too excited about a good honey flow, compare notes after a hard winter, and happily swap photos of a healthy brood pattern.

Some of us are tending our very first backyard hive; others have kept bees for decades. What we share is a genuine fondness for these remarkable insects — and a belief that the best way to learn beekeeping is right alongside people who've done it here, in our own Central Valley climate.

Whatever led you to bees — honey, pollination, plain curiosity, or a swarm that turned up uninvited — there's a place for you here.

  • Beginners and old hands are equally welcome
  • Advice grounded in our local seasons and forage
  • A shared commitment to healthy bees and pollinators
Why Join

Good reasons to become a member

Membership is really about one thing: not having to figure beekeeping out on your own. Here's what that looks like in practice.

People who get it

Beekeeping can feel like a solo hobby until you find your people. As a member you'll get to know other local keepers — the kind who'll happily talk you through a problem or celebrate your first jar of honey.

Know-how that travels

Books and videos only take you so far. Members share the hands-on lessons that actually matter here — when to feed, how to read a hive through the seasons, and what to try when things don't go to plan.

Better for the bees

Honey bees and their wild cousins do quiet, essential work across our gardens, orchards, and farms. Keeping bees well — and helping others do the same — is a small but real way to look after local pollinators.

A voice close to home

We care about beekeeping being welcome and well understood around Madera — from answering a nervous neighbor's questions to being a friendly, sensible presence for responsible beekeeping in our area.
