Swarm Help

Found a swarm?

A cluster of honey bees in your yard can look alarming, but a swarm is usually just a colony looking for a new home — and often quite gentle. Rather than reaching for the spray, let us know: we'll do our best to connect you with a local beekeeper who may be able to collect and relocate it.

Before you report

A few quick things to know

  • Keep your distance and keep children and pets back. Please don't spray or disturb the swarm.
  • Honey bees only. We help with honey bee swarms — not wasps, hornets, or yellowjackets. If the insects are in a wall or have aggressive black-and-yellow bodies, you'll want a pest-control professional instead.
  • Swarms move on. A resting swarm often relocates on its own within a day or two, so the sooner you let us know, the better the chance a beekeeper can reach it in time.
  • We're volunteers, so we can't promise someone will always be available — but we'll try our best to help.
If anyone is having a serious allergic reaction to a sting, call 911 right away.
